Our Morning
Arrival & Welcome
We greet the children and their grown-ups at the main door as they arrive. Parents and caregivers help their child wash their hands before bringing them into the classroom.
Center Exploration
Children choose from a variety of centers and activities that spark their interests to help them transition from home to school.
Clean-Up
Working together to tidy the classroom helps children develop responsibility, independence, and pride in caring for their shared environment,
Morning Meeting
The class gathers for songs, the calendar, weather, and a preview of the day’s activities. This time builds community while helping children develop self-regulation, strengthen language and listening skills, and practice participating as part of a group.
Table Activities
Hands-on activities related to the unit theme or letter of the week strengthen cognitive, fine motor, language, and social skills. Our small class sizes allow teachers to provide individualized support that meets each child’s unique learning needs.
Restroom Break
Daily routines encourage independence while reinforcing good hygiene and self-care skills.
Snack & Share-n-Tell
Snack time encourages healthy eating habits, independence, and conversation with friends. During Share-n-Tell, children enjoy expressing themselves, listening to others, and building confidence as they develop language and social skills.
Independent Reading
Children select books of their choice to enjoy quietly while developing early literacy skills and a lifelong appreciation for reading.
Indoor Gym
Active play strengthens gross motor skills while encouraging exploration, creativity, problem-solving, and cooperation with classmates. Teachers observe, support, and extend children’s learning as they interact and discover new ways to play.
Whole & Small Group Activities
Children participate in a balance of whole-group and small-group experiences that build foundational skills through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and meaningful opportunities to explore, practice, and share what they are learning.
Specialty Classes
Specialty teachers enrich the day with engaging, age-appropriate classes in music, movement, chess, Spanish, and Math-Gym, giving children opportunities to discover new interests.
Transition
The children gather to enjoy a story and say goodbye to their friends who are dismissed at noon (3s class only). The lead teacher brings the departing children to the school’s main entrance where each child is dismissed only after making contact with a parent or authorized caregiver The remaining children transition to the next part of the day.
Our Afternoon
Lunch
Children enjoy lunch with classmates while practicing manners, independence, and social skills. Children who finish early are encouraged to select a book to read while waiting for friends.
Quiet Rest
After a busy morning, children recharge with soft music as they rest and relax on their individual mats for approximately 25 minutes.
Independent Play
Children choose from a variety of activities and materials, giving them opportunities to explore their interests, use their imagination, and play independently or with friends.
Learning Centers
Children rotate through a variety of hands-on learning centers that complement the unit theme or letter of the week while strengthening early literacy, math, and STEM skills. During this time, teachers work with individual children and small groups to provide personalized guidance, encourage new learning, and thoughtfully observe each child’s growth and development.
Recess
Children enjoy another opportunity to be active, strengthen gross motor skills, and spend time with friends. Our spacious indoor play area is perfect for active movement and, when appropriate, children also enjoy visits to our local playground.
Enrichment Block
Children continue to strengthen cognitive and fine motor skills through engaging experiences such as cooking, yoga, and hands-on STEM activities. These enriching experiences encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence in a fun, interactive environment.
Story Time
Teachers share books that support the monthly theme or are longtime classroom favorites. Reading together nurtures a love of books while building listening comprehension, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and early literacy skills as children make predictions, retell stories, and participate in discussions.
Closing Circle & Dismissal
The day ends with a final gathering where children reflect, share favorite moments, and say goodbye to each other through song. They gather their belongings to go home. Teachers escort the children to the main entrance and release them only to authorized caregivers. Children leave feeling proud of their day and looking forward to tomorrow.
