Drop-off

To help ensure a smooth transition, we open our doors to greet the children 15 minutes prior to each class’s start time:  8:45am for 3s & 4s classes; 9am for 2s morning class and 1:15pm for 2s afternoon class.

Center Exploration

Self-directed centers of interest are set up in the classroom to allow children to independently choose activities that help them separate and adjust to the beginning of the day.

Clean-up

Children gain a sense of responsibility and work as a group member to help pick up toys and put materials back on shelves.

Group Meeting

Children gather together to greet one another, record the weather, mark the calendar, sing songs, listen to stories, practice finger play and talk about what they will learn that day.  This is a time where children practice self-regulation, increase attention span and develop listening skills.

Table Time

Opportunity is provided that encourages the use of social and language skills while children work on theme-related projects.  The teachers also work on cognitive and fine motor manipulative activities.

Restroom Break

This time allows us to encourage good hygiene.

Snack Time & Share-n-Tell

This gives children the opportunity to practice language and social skills.  Healthy eating is promoted.  Soft music is played to create a calm eating environment.

Indoor gym

This is a time for children to develop large motor skills through movement and formulate their own plan as they engage in activities with other children in the large play space. Teacher’s use this time to first, observe how children gather information, interact with others and solve problems; and second to enter into the children’s activities when needed to encourage, extend and set up problem solving situations.

Whole Group Activity

Opportunity is provided that encourages the use of social and language skills while children work on the letter of the week or engage in an activity that relates to the curriculum unit theme.

Specialty Classes

Once a week,  specialty teachers come to our program to engage the children in a variety of activities. Music, Movement, Spanish, and Chess at Three are some of the extra-curriculars that we offer.

The children come together to hear a story and say good-bye to their friends who will leave at noon.  Children who are picked up at noon gather their belongings to go home.
